Ensuring economic growth in Armenia at the expense of industry is a positive factor, which should not be underestimated, Gagik Minasyan, Chairman of the Standing Parlaimentary Commission for Financial-Credit and Budget Issues, member of the Republican party of Armenia, reported. Referring to the data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the MP recalled that the industrial output in Armenia over the first half-year 2010 grew by 12.3%.
Armenian GDP in Jan-Jun 2010, as compared to the similar period of 2009 grew by 6.7% and in June as compared to May - by 31.7%. The preliminary data of Armenia's National Statistical Service say GDP volume in Jan-Jun 2010 in absolute terms made up AMD 1332 bln or USD 3.5 bln. GDP deflator index for Jan- Jun grew by 9.1%.
GDP in Armenia was up 8.8% over Jan-May 2010 as against the same period of 2009. In May versus April, GDP was up by 14.3%. In Jan-May the GDP in absolute terms amounted to AMD 1017 bln or USD2.6 bln.
